Thinking Space is an open and confidential community gathering designed to provide a safe environment where individuals can freely express their feelings, share personal stories, and deepen their self-awareness. Participants are encouraged to discuss various aspects of community life, both challenging and uplifting, that impact their well-being.

At Thinking Space, community members support one another by drawing on their own experiences to offer insights, share local resources, and suggest strategies for addressing issues.

It’s a place where you can be heard, understood, and build positive relationships.

The Thinking Space therapeutic model has its roots in the neighbourhoods of Brazil, where it was realised that individuals facing multiple challenges lacked access to traditional forms of therapeutic assistance. This model brings support directly to the community, harnessing the wealth of knowledge and experiences within the community to enhance mental wellbeing and reduce stress.

The model was introduced to the Claudia Jones Organisation by Frank Lowe, a psychotherapist and former head of social work at the Tavistock and Portman Mental Health Trust and our former Chair, Janet Campbell.

Our Thinking Space facilitators have completed specialist training at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust so they can facilitate meaningful and supportive spaces effectively.
