At CJO we offer a Culturally appropriate family Support/Advocacy service that is sensitive to people's cultural identity or heritage.

Family Support

We support women and families in culturally sensitive ways getting to know them, respecting and showing them compassion. We recognise when people’s preferences are not being taken on board or properly respected. We encourage women and families to express their views and concerns, then listen and act upon them to help shape the service and culture which promotes equality and diversity.

CJO is aware that when women and families face challenges that cause stress, including poverty and homelessness, their health and wellbeing can be negatively impacted. CJO Family Support / advocacy engage with women and families as active participants in problem-solving and goal setting can help them identify and use their own strengths to address the challenges they face.

CJO understands that women often need to access support services such as early care and education, housing and food assistance, and physical and mental health care to positively contribute to the well-being of themselves, families and their children.

CJO is clear that when all family members are safe, healthy, and have chances for educational advancement and economic mobility family well-being occurs. When women are healthy, safe, and economically stable, their families, children’s health and well-being can thrive.

The service has a positive culture that is person-centred, holistic, open, inclusive and based on consent.
